Friends Reunited Gets Worse

Today I discovered that FR appears to have deleted the Atheists group. It is no longer accessible and all you get is a message saying “sorry, this box has been deleted”. That’s it, all gone. WTF?

Flu epidemic

Strange that nobody is talking about “flu” this year when we are having the worst epidemic for several years.

Could it be that it’s ageist, and so irrelevant, or that it’s happening in private health care, and nobody in the coalition government wants to talk about failure in the private health industry?

Atos

We have lost our way when this is happening, and everyone is too busy watching Big Brother and The Hunger Games to actually notice the way we live now.

Thank the Lord – Again!

These Christians are bonkers beyond belief. Yet again, a natural event causes destruction, injury but hopefully not death in the USA. Approximately 12 tornadoes ripped through the Dallas Fort Worth area of Texas yesterday (3rd April 2012) and as ever, the people who survived the horror start “thanking the lord” as in this quote from http://edition.cnn.com/2012/04/03/us/texas-weather/index.html:

“It was like ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ ” said Gwen Dabbs, who wasn’t able to make it to an interior room before the storm blew her windows out. She huddled in a corner of her living room covered with blankets as the tornado passed.

“My body is sore from being in the corner. But I don’t have not a cut, not a scratch, and I’m so thankful. Thank you, Lord,” she said.

Silly woman. Has she no idea that if there is a god, then it was her god who put her in danger in the first place?

Why does god only ever get credit for the good stuff with these Christians?

Nanopathology – the risks we can’t see.

While the government is busy pushing forward the business agenda, and the exploitation of scientific advances in particular, it would be a good time to be questioning just what the risks are for the rest of us.

This is an interesting article on just what we may have in store for us, if you haven’t come across the problems before.

http://ec.europa.eu/research/quality-of-life/ka4/pdf/report_nanopathology_en.pdf

Anyone else concerned about just what we are getting ourselves into this time?

After all, once your children and grandchildren have shed their nanoparticle covered “stain” resistant school uniforms for holidays and are being slathered in nanoparticle impregnated suncream, just what will they be vulnerable to next?

When we were encouraged to be vaccinated against swine ‘flu’ did anyone bother to ask people to report any side effects – and when did you last see much about this in the news?

http://www.nhs.uk/news/2012/03march/Pages/pandemrix-swine-flu-vaccine-narcolepsy.aspx

What I find interesting about this story is that after the great ‘flu’ epidemic after the first world war there was a much less publicised epidemic of encephalitis lethargica – a sleeping disorder – that persisted over the next decades and was often confused with Parkinsons.

Big Brother 2012

New plans to monitor everyone’s e-mails and internet access are being touted this evening.

Is this the beginning of the end of the concept of any right to privacy for the individual or the start of a new era of “thought police”?

So much for the FIB-dem dedication to democracy and civil liberties.

If You Want to Create New Posts ….

This free WordPress blog thing works slightly differently to my own blog, hosted by me and not by WordPress.com.

Users sign up to my blog when they “register” but here, it seem that all you do is register for a WordPress account. Interesting. And slightly irritating as it means that you are not one of this blog’s users and so you cannot actually create stuff.

The solution is to be invited, by me, to be users of this blog. To do this I need your WordPress user name and/or email address (your WordPress user name is probably better – never leave your email visible on any blog or web page, unless you really want to be spammed!).

In order that I don’t start spamming everyone myself, please leave a comment here asking for me to invite you to join as users here. Just leave me your WordPress user name and I’ll send you an invite. I think – teething trouble etc – that when I do that, you will appear in this blog’s list of users and when that happens, I can change your admin level to allow you to create stuff.

As I said above, it’s slightly different on these free blogs. Sorry about the hassle.

Cheers, Norm.

Introduce Yourself

Welcome to the new blog for ex-Friends Reunited atheists, and everyone else too of course!

Introduce yourself in the comments below when you have registered for a WordPress account (which you can use in many places, not just WordPress Blogs) but don’t give too much information away as this is a public posting. No bank accounts, addresses, email addresses or credit card numbers here please – Identity theft is rife as is email address harvesting by spammers.

Cheers,

Norm.

Goodbye Friends Reunited?

FR was a pretty decent site for a while. There were groups where like minded atheists could get together, virtually, and have discussions about almost anything. Sometimes we got trolled by the religiots but eventually they would depart.

However, Fr upgraded the site – I use the term upgraded loosely – and broke it. Groups were gone, but old ones remains. They were just unworkable in the new regime. Support calls to FR went unanswered or were answered with a simple “like it or lump it” – so quite a few people decided to lump it.

This first post is just here to gauge the need for a similar situation where we atheists can get together and chat. Christians can come in too, bring a drink or two and a comfy cushion, but be prepared for facts and science, not myths and legends!

You’ll need to sign up for an account, or login with your existing WordPress account to comment, but that’s not much different from before is it?

Cheers,

Norm.
